It's never nice when this sort of thing happens and I was unaware of the demerit system. However I guess it is a road related area so why not have a demerit system.
Onto the reason for the post - "This is a country of freedom of speech" well unless things have changed with the constitution that is not completely correct. So I guess this carries on to this forum - if we want to play in the AULRO's sand pit then we play by their rules and accept the umpires decisions - or we take our spade and bucket and find another sand pit to play in.
- Unless I am wrong and the Law relating to "Free speech" have changed, then it was only ever "permitted" within strictly controlled times and place. I can remember heading off with my parents to Sydney's Domain on a Sunday afternoon to listen to various speakers proffering their own particular slant on the world. Similar comments made in an alternative fora would have landed many in prison.
- We have no "bill of rights" codifying the right to free speech.
- Recent anti-terrorism laws have reminded us about this lack of the right to free speech, particularly as it relates to sedition.
Just my thoughts.
