G'day Spudboy
Mud Products in the UK make a longer seat slider for the new 2007 defender for tall people, "Mudrails" somebody on the forum will know more info.
cheers
Checked out a gorgeous gray 110 with a white roof at the Adelaide dealer today. They wouldn't let me drive it as it is already sold but I had a poke around.
Doors shut nicely. Dash is great. Seats feel a bit close to the dash (but I am 6'3" so won't trouble everyone). Seats are a HUGE improvement over the TD5.
Bonnet bulge looks good in the flesh.
Mine should be here in a week or two.

The first one I have seen some months ago at the nearest dealership was then only a few days old and had already moisture behind the lights and indicators...

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.
Has anyone got some specs on the dimensions of the Mud-Rails if I wanted to fabricate my own?
I remember Incisor saying they are more than just a couple of lengths of steel, so it may be more involved.
Some photos would be good.
There ya go

Looks pretty much like a length of steel with a notch taken out of one end, and 3 holes drilled in it.
How come they cost so much?
Hi Spudboy,
That DIY project cost me about $30
1. 2" RHS offcuts - $12
2. Bottle of black paint - $9.95
3. Bolts, nuts and 4 plastic caps
I recommend to weld additional 8mm strip inside and tap a tread for seat rails mounting bolts.
Cheers,
Ruslan
G'day Folks
One would have to think about the Insurance aspects of homemade ones in comparison to "Branded" units with certification and Export permitsas most Insurance Coy's will try ANYthing to get out of honouring a claim.
cheers
It's a wedge-shaped length of steel with a notch out of the fat end, thank you very much.
No idea why they'd be particularly expensive.
AS for the insurance, I'm sure you would need to get ANY seat modification certified, whether off-the-shelf or home-made, if you want it covered.
