Nope! No rain since Saturday night here. I am amazed by how quickly all traces of it have disappeared - probably reflects the lack of soil moisture - it just soaked straight in. There were a few puddles, but even the mud in the bottom of most of them is crumbly now. The steady 25kt easterly has probably helped sry things out as well. Rain or at least thunderstorms are forecast for the rest of the week, and today I actually saw a few spots on the windscreen driving over to next door's, but it didn't even get close to needing the wipers. It has been mostly overcast, although the sun was sort of out for a lot of today.

we've had probably close to 1/2" here today (started at 5 this morning) just good soaking, steady rain.

It was funny yesterday on a Polo place 25km east of here (just up the road from where we had been living up till recently) watching the weather slowly come in from the north east over the range for several hours. It seemed to just hang on the range, then slowly made it's way down the valley.

I had to visit the grooms bunkhouses about an hour after it started (yes, they are all young female backpacker types, and I was escorted by one of the managers so they wouldn't mob me :cool: ..........as if :rolleyes: ) and need the centre diff locked to drive the 1/2km back to the main road.

Driving back home, popped up over the small range between the two valleys and it was bone dry this side.

had 2 days of nice drizzle here,just spread some lawn seed today :D keep drizzlin please i dont wont a clump of grass at the bottom of the padock :o , whats everyones tanks like ours is nearly full :D

Thankfully very little since Saturday:).
All I need now is it to hold off until after the weekend. Once the work is done it can rain to it's hearts content.

The few hundred liters added to the rain on Saturday means it's still very muddy but the puddles are starting dry.

JD, i am sorry to hear nothing has come your way yet, hopefully it will,
ricks valley rain sounds the same as here good soaking rain, but, we are well and truly soaked, haven't been down to look, but my spring and well must be flowing at a rapid rate and my sprnig fed dam overflowing.
well the overnight has been constant, it is damp really damp outside,
all tanks are full and overflpwing and think my drain frogs have moved to higher ground.
the bonus with all this rain is it brings all the creatures to the surface, the bad ones the cane toads,have been flattening a few on the road into town, haven't found any around the house yet.
the bad part is the green frogs are sitting on the road too, its like driving through a chicane trying to dodge them.
may your boots get muddy.

This morning has dawned nice and sunny, although there is a fair bit of cloud about. Doesn't really look much like rain, however.

JD sorry to hear that, would have believed something was coming your way,
just ducked out and took some snaps, ( it is the closest I can offer you by way of water from the sky) its foggy now

forecast for today is heavy showers, but nothing is showing on the radar yet, and it appears to be breaking up.

John E, when we visited the sister-in-law in December and again at Easter we couldn't believe the constant rain you lot receive. At the time we were well and truly drought stricken, having to dig holes in the river bed for water and the little showers that we had while on the north coast were great. I was just helping outside in it and getting soaked, it was that good.

I know what you mean , up here they talk about drought and everything is still green, that usually means it hasn't rained for a couple of months.

yep, SIL got me a beauty one time, asking how the water situation was and commiserating, saying they too were in drought "....it hasn't rained for a week and a half...!" gave me a good belly laugh at the time.:D

<edit> I'm just glad I'm no longer on the farm and worrying about stock. I became thoroughly sick and tired of destroying stock during the worst of '03. Going back to my trade isn't all bad.
