Ex Vic Premier Bracksies son cops it

On the news tonight Steve Bracks son get a fine and 15 month licence cancellation.
It's good to see no favouritism was shown by the judge. wonder if it was a liberal premiers son if he would have got off with a slap on the risk.

some of our taxpayer funded public office holders have children that have chosen paths that differ from their parents.
but 'people in glass houses -' you know.

Bracks was a do nothing pollie who always said about every issue..... "ill look in to it", hence the mirror comment. not long after his sons accident, he retired. many believe the accident was the catylist for him to retire. maybe he thought he was not spending enough time with his family and his son going off the rails was a consequence of that.

do i have to spell it out!

I do not see the point of blaming Steve Bracks (and no I do not know him at all) for the actions of his son. Granted being a public figure some flack is going to be generated, but unless there is any indication of him being a bad parent, comments like that are offensive and tasteless. There are many, many people who have done similar and or worse and you would not condem their parents. Parenting is hard enough and we as parents can not be held accountable for all our childrens (and I am talking young adults) actions. We make our own decisions. I try to teach my kids as best I can, that does not mean that they will not make errors of judgement or stupid decisions that they may or may not get away with and I am hardly at fault. I actually have compassion for the parents of people like this who do their best. I do not have compassion for parents who do not give a damn though.

Only points up for me that drink/drug education in relation to driving a car on public roads needs to occur BEFORE the new driver presents for a licence test.

Perhaps even a defensive driving course from someone like Murcott's would go even further towards preventing crashes which occur as a result of poor vehicle control and lack of any understanding of vehicle dynamics....

    But don't get me started!!

I was just pleased that no one was killed and that the Bracks family wasn't devastated by a thing as dreadful as that.

The kid was stupid and grounding him for whatever time it takes for him to understand is the correct punishment. And I hope the $700 came out of his pocket, not his father's.
