Would you rather have the Yanks as an allie or an enemy, no which I prefer, it doesnt really matter who runs the country its just one clown versus another they are all the same, full of false promises and no hope but thats what being a politician is all about, when your not patting babys on the head with one hand your stealing there lollipop with the other, we will all know very soon then back to Landy chat.

yep krudd is in and no amount of postal votes will change that now... my sincerest condolences to all of us... Johnny was a great topic for us to joke about but now we have to put up with that smirkiness of rudd that makes you want to drop kick him any time you see him

Ellard and Jamo are right. I have worked in the mining industry for the last 20 years and we have never had it so good. This is not a bad thing and for all those in other industry that think it is, I bet you would not knock back better pay, conditions and a safer work environment. This is what has happened for us over the last 10 or so years. I am not a Liberal by any stretch of the immagination. I however do not like what a lot of the workplace changes have done to other industry, but do not want to go back to the days of the 70s and 80s of crippling strikes and uncertainty of your pay packet each week.
I used to be a union rep for the right reasons (safety and health) and saw exactly what hypocacy an bull came out of unions. As Jamo said the stuff he listed for strikes is true and I have seen this first hand. We would go to the oval for a union meeting and see the miners boats and caravans hooked up and know we were about to lose at least 3 days pay and all weekend penalty work.
Both parties are tossers, it is just who can dribble the most with false promises. I do think Johnnies time is up as he has become arrogant and too far right wing.
All you have to do is look at unions like the CFMEU who members are to blind to see they are being used to make union bosses rich.
There are neccessary and good unions like the Police, nurses unions etc that are not to bad.
I think the key is to allow collective bargaining.

I hope I can still afford to drive my Landy with 17% interest rates, let's hope it doesn't get back to that.

Labor seems an uneasy mix of your old school union lefties and the new green lefties and we don't know which way it will fall.
