Libs & Costello

The Captain of the ship, did what captains are apparently supposed to do; go down with the ship.

The Captain fought to the last, but his ailing boat was outgunned by a camouflaged pocket battleship. His crew were not of much help, firing off the guns in all the wrong directions.

And his first mate, after the ship had sunk, decided go for a life boat, sail it into port and let off an atomic bomb, ruining the rest of the fleet.

But, the new skipper was already far away, planning for the new opportunity.

The new skipper is everything one needs in a commander in chief.

Malcolm Turnbull is rich, smart, tough and a bully - which is just what the Libs need; a boss who wont take any crap for anyone. He'll sort out the Libs, kick the Nats into line and do what he so desires to do, be the next Prime Minister. Malcolm will itch and fidget for the next three years and may well be the best thing for this term of government, 'keeping the bastards honest'. Being a turncoat, the former LaborParty card carrying Turnbull, knows how the enemy works.

Kevin07 and his triumphant crew will have to take very serious note of the new Captain.

Now as the populus have made a majority decision, it is up to us to all get behind Kevin07 and ensure he keeps the country in 'ship shape'.

(of course, you can all jump over the side laughing, if Tony Abbott gets the gig:D:D:D)

* agreed - Malcom Turdbull (or is that Bullturd) is a bully - always was when he was a year over me at school and was a prefect, sergeant major in cadets etc - he'll continue to be bully boy.

* why get behind Kevin? Does he need a push or something? Or to be held up because he can't stand on his own 2 feet? Or does he need to watch his back from Julia G or the unions or the CIA?? He now has to show that he has the goods - not just the rhetoric. Hope he's over eating his own ear wax or taking dancing lessons off Kerri Ann kennerley.........

I mention Kevin as the new 'boss' and as a metaphor for the Labor Party,
Labor has to play it very safe, as Turnbull and his new team, when he beats them into shape, will be a very formidable opposition....

We need to get behind the new... and unite Australia, which, in recent times has been under a 'divide and conquer' regime....

Parliamentary pensions are based on the outgoing member's EXIT SALARY. By resigning NOW Costelloe gets his pension based on his salary as a government front bencher which is better than the salary of an opposition backbencher.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with him wanting to do "what's best for the party" in giving the new leader a clear run-up to the next election.

And now Malcolm Turnbull is saying that it is time for the Liberal Party to look at revising their strategy for the next election. Does that mean he is admitting that they were wrong this time around??? If so, what message does that send to the faithful who voted for them?

All I can say is in four years time I'll be very surprised if this nation isnt like the aftermath of a rock concert..

Am I being overly cynical, or is it the case that any party that loses these days blames their election strategy instead of considering that maybe their policies didn't offer the people what they thought they wanted?
Is that their way of saying policies are less important than how we sell them?
Is it all about marketing rather than substance?

I know some advertising guru is supposed to have said that you don't actually sell the steak, you sell the sizzle, but I would prefer it if election campaigns were all about the steak and less about the sizzle.

Sorry - I was clumsy in my paraphrasing of Mr Turnbull's comments. He said the following,

"I will deliver, if elected to the leadership of the Liberal party, the energy and drive and the determination to win and the commitment to deliver new ideas, new policies, new agendas for the advancement of our country."

Which, I think, is worse than just blaming the marketting - he is actually saying that they got it all wrong. The party, and the people who voted for them.
