Got one today from an Army bloke in a 6x6 Perentie..
Kinda took me by surprise as he waved first ...![]()
I drive my SIII everywhere, & since it was re-registered in January, I have only seen one other series. Needless to say, there was much waving, flashing lights, horn tooting & all the rest. (God it was a nice rig, immaculate).
However, never get any response from Defenders or Rangies. I don't think the majority of them have any idea of the history or appreciation of their vehicles. Most of them are driven by ponced up females done up to the hilt, doing the shopping or taking the kids to school. I don't expect the majority of them have ever been off-road. So don't really expect any waves from them.
However, I frequently get stopped by blokes, when I get out the Landie, or fill up with fuel (even at traffic lights) who seem to appreciate the vehicle & can't stop asking questions about it. Mostly truck drivers, or older blokes who really seem to like her.
At least some people seem to appreciate the finer things in life!

Waves from other Land Rover drivers are nice, but sometimes the reactions from kids in the back seat are even better. Passed another Defender last week-end and I could clearly lip-read what his young son in the back was saying - at great volume I presume... "look Dad, it's a new one!!!"![]()
I know some of you lot seem to think that waving is in the domain of fenders, series etc, but I have been getting quite a few waves either returned or off the bat from other disco drivers from D1's through to D3's...very rewarding. Older bloke around here has a nicely modded D2 and clearly a landy fan, we give each other a wave in passing, so good to see the Disco's warming to the wave,

Hi all, I wave at fellow rover owners of any make but as i am in a D1 find that not all defender owners wave back and new D3 owners look at you as if to say what the But have had one wave.
I lernt the rover wave when my dad bought his first Rover back in the 7o,s
2dr V8 and every one waved back then and fellow RR owners nearly fell out of there cars to wave at other RR owners and if you met at servo it was like you where lost friends. Its still good to get a wave and gives you that rover feeling..
A guy in a very nice white stock Xtreme waved at me yesterday in Joondalup - couldn't wave back as I was trying to extract finger from bandaid
Nice to get one from a Deefer...
Cheers

We're getting a lot more waves now we have the defender![]()
Never ever ever have I had so many waves from the bretheren (driver and passenger) when I'm driving the Defender.
Pity they don't recognise the dirty Disco like wise.
