Generosity to strangers is not dead....

for those of you paying attention Ive just done a fairly long trip via melbourne albury and cessnock...

While in melbourne I needed somewhere to stay overnight after rolling down to drop off some guys on friday which was before I intended to go down... oh well they paid $20 each for fuel and tipped $100 for a room for the night which was still cheaper than them getting a cab, the train and a cab to where they wanted to be so I though bugger it, Im cheap I'll just swag it, wonder where I want to wake up tomorrow.

Not knowing melbourne OR where Clarkes place was I just punched his adress and told the GPS any park within oh 50K of there. On the list that came up I just picked one at random.

On saturday morning I was awoken by a nice old couple watering the plants in the park near the gazebo they were very apologetic but aparently in the dark Id aparently parked in front of the tap they use. I did the whole not to worry I was due to get up anyway bit and while I was packing the swag asked them about the deal on watering the plants.... general polite conversation ensued and the fact that they wanted to make good for waking me up (apparently you could hear me snoring all the way from the top of the hill) so would I object to joining them for cofee, breakfast and OJ? I tried to skiff out gently but short of doing the NO sorry got to run thanks I didnt think that I was going to get out of it.. Glad I didnt the bloke did all his own wood working and made all their own furniture. That bloke is to wood working what Tim at rovers only in townsville is to landrovers... no, Im not kidding.

anyway heres the pics of where I woke up that saturday morning.

thats from the nice old couples balcony, he wants to see about getting the power lines put underground as they spoil the view.

thats from the park side of the road across from his driveway. The observant of you can just spot the slope of big reds roof in the bottom right, I was swagged up off of the bull bar.

and thats about the same view as i woke up to just a little higher up the hill to off load the glare that was coming off the dew on the grass.

You picked a great spot to pull up for a kip there Blknight. Last time I did something like that, I put the swag right on top of a "pop-up" sprinkler. Was a hell of a way to wake up in the morning.

And yes - there's still some great people around. They must have known that you were not just some drunken yob who had crashed out the front of their place because you were driving a Landrover.
    Cheers .........
