It’s a done deal, Ford has sold LR

I saw a Tata 4WD Wagon in the main street in Boulder this afternoon - didn't even know that such a beast existed. From a distance, it didn't look too bad, if a little dated. I only saw the rear end, as it was angle parked into the kerb and I was travelling in the opposite direction.

The rear quarter and tailgate looked somewhat like the previous shape Nissan Pathfinder wagon - but - where the Landrovers have the small windows in the roof above the rear side windows, the Tata had grey plastic inserts in almost the same shape and location.

I reckon that if Tata get hold of Landrover, the first change will be to extend the raised roofline in the Disco right through to the windscreen to accommodate for drivers wearing turbans. :wasntme:

There is a Tata Dealership at Yandina,,,

been there for a few years now,,,

Tata Safari. I haven't seen on this new but the older one I think had a 2 litre t/d and looked a very similar shape just less streamlined.

Ive worked on some tata no, not tatra (tho dont I wish) gear... call me pedantic but that stuff looks like it belongs on a landrover... Function before form on most of the stuff Ive seen. ITs simple, it works, its robust..... ok so sometimes they leak a bit of oil and they get a bit noisey and the alignemtent of some parts is a bit suss you need to finesse the mounting rubbers a little bit to make things fit in before you ti..........


hang on was I describing landrovers or tata stuff there?

If they keep their heads screwed on straight I reckon the deefer class landrovers are in for the time of their lives. If I was running the show at Tata youd get a more agricultural engine, 5 speed box, a proper truck diff with a locker in the rear and youd have the option of coils or leafs in the 110's coils only in the 90's and coil assisted leaves in the 130's. all cost about the same to produce and are simple to make so more of the money from the expensive stuff (electronic engines) can go into getting you better stuff (better suspension/diffs/brakes)

That and the fact Ford continued the process of closing down all regional service centres so the only place you could get parts and service for your LR was in capital cities.

Didn't make a lot of sense to me, Ford has service centres all across the country yet to get a LR serviced you had to go into a capital city.

I don't know if it was a Ford, BMW or LRA decision - either way whoever made it should be shot.

Landrover as a brand has nothing to do with Australia.

We deal with some knob ends in Aust that have no touch on reality.

They are the ones who closed the dealer network, restricted the brand and did wrong by it...
