Just had a trip in Vic high country in my S2 Td5 travelling with a S3 TDV6. We did some pretty interesting climbs that resulted in my car scrabbling around for traction despite ACE and BFG tyres at 20psi (admittedly my centre diff wasn't locked). The S3 was running road tyres at 46psi and didn't show a hint of slip - truly amazing...

Yeah but when are we going to see one bob tailed, uted, decked or chopped. Thats what I'm waiting to see.
I saw a S3 body shell on ebay UK last night for 500 quid. Hint hint.

I agree - he probably should have let his tyres down pre-emptively, but given that he didn't have any wheelspin, I don't think he did any damage to the track (they were fairly dry). As for my vehicle, well yes, I should have probably got under the vehicle and manually engaged the CD, but there was only one climb that was a real problem. I will be organising a CDL now as a matter of priority, but my 'mate' told me this was going to be a 'easy' trip so I was expecting pretty standard firetrail action...
