Thread: 4 wheel dreamin on aurora

Hi guys,
My mate told me this morning that he was watching a 4'by show on aurora at lunch time yesterday,and the guy was driving a defender.
Apparently the guy said it had a 6cylinder tdi donk in it,the grill between the headlights came out towards the bumper(instead of going in towards the radiator),different dash,and apparently was filmed around the paris-dakar rally section in Morocco.
Anybody see it by chance and can confirm that there IS a 6 cylinder tdi for the defender??

Not that I saw the show, but I have read about a british rally car - possibly a D90 - fitted with a BMW six cylinder diesel. That engine (I think) does not have the unit injectors of the TD5, so it would look like a TDi. Then, the reason the TD5 is a 5 cyl is because the six was too long for the LR engine bay - if the grill of this mystery car extends out somewhat, then that would be the cause.
