Thanks for posting up the pics. There's never enough pics of the 2007 Defender to look at.

I'm glad you took a photo of the rear seat. Now that's a BIG step forward! It even has lap/sash center belt. Good stuff, Land Rover!

Got a question re the airconditioning - are you saying that there's no way of turning off the a/c, i.e. you can't just have fan only? I would have thought that there was a button to disable the compressor, no?

the defender has gone all high tech with fan speed one selected with the air con button on even if the fan is off, the centre vents blow all time with air con on but are off with air con off and fan off.
not really noticed the hands getting too cold but im still in dream lala land.

No, there is an A/C on-off button in the centre bottom of the console. When A/C is "on" the fan comes on automatically - even when set to zero. With the A/C "off" then the fan goes off and you just crank it up to 1, 2 or 3.

The thing that is odd is that the centre vents are fixed and chill your gearchange arm on even the lowest setting. Not that I'm complaining - especially on a muggy day like today.

Yeah - I'm still feeling a bit detatched from it all. There is definitely nowhere near as much of an 'engaged' feel as the Td5. Maybe I've just got to get used to it but everything feels just a bit too smooth - almost remote controlled.

The biggest change is that most of the driving is now done in the peak torque band of the engine, instead of the peak power band. There is not that sudden burst of power at high-ish revs like the Td5, but more of a smooth surge from much lower down. It's great.

Just to prove I didn't pick it up secondhand... although I'm sure I don't live 89km from the dealers. I must have taken a few detours on the way home
