We really are "spoilt" here.
I remember when I left school to go racing yachts we were in Thailand and a motorcyclist pulled up (well moped but hey!) and walked up to the bank doors. He was gunned down by security. Apparently it is illegal to enter still wearing your helmet. No freeze, no hands up, no capsicum spray just bang.
It annoys me when in the few incidents we have here each year that rellies abuse police after shooting someone (usually not fatal shots either). Having witnessed an event the police had been trying to get someone who was going nuts to drop a machette for about 20mins and he refused before he ran at an officer and was shot... in the shoulder. That night on the news the mother was going on about how he was a gentle person and never would have done anything and the police were the agressors and didn't give him a chance and they didn't need to shoot him. (OK this probably doesn't apply to the VIC police.... Bang... stop or I'll shoot!) seriously they do their best to disarm without force.
Lets hope we never get that way over here
What happened in Tassie was the police's fault because he got the gun from them.Saying that the police do a good job and it ****es me off when they are ridiculed for what they do after exhausting all other avenue's and at the end of the day they deal with the countries low life. Pat
