just slightly changeing the subject if i may, has any looked at the tata web site, this company is huge and has patnerships with some pretty big names like BP and Cummins.
still not sure it will be good for land rover in the short term, but then i thought that when BMW took over and look were we are now.

From all the info I’ve read and heard, TATA may very well be the best thing that has ever happened to Land Rover.

I posted this on another thread but it may be more relevant here now.

Have a look at their website:
    Tata Motors - HomePage

    Here's a couple of quotes:
Tata Motors Limited is India’s largest automobile company, with revenues of Rs. 24,000 crores (USD 5.5 billion) in 2005-06. It is the leader by far in commercial vehicles in each segment, and the second largest in the passenger vehicles market with winning products in the compact, midsize car and utility vehicle segments. The company is the world’s fifth largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer

Tata Motors' vehicles meet international emission norms like Euro III standards for Passenger cars and Euro II standards for Light Commercial Vehicles including pick up vans. European standards for frontal and side safety impact are also successfully met with for passenger cars. It has a series of quality systems in place including ISO accreditation from Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI).

Might be the best thing that's happened since the 110 was introduced in the early eighties!!!!! All they then have to do is merge with Santana and adopt their improvements - wider back door and rear cargo space, flat floor under the seats instead of the seat box so suspension seats can be fitted, IVECO engine, then put a Salisbury in the front and add roll-over protection (as opposed to the current rollover writeoff), NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING!
