    Ok one for those who know about tools/ equipment etc...What is this?

    G'day all,

    The house I recently bought had a whole lot of stuff in the shed, most of which I have thrown ( was a mortgagee in repo so apparently what ever is there is yours), some I have kept. There is the following piece of equipment, looks like a compressor, maybe for painting or something?? If someone can let me know a) what is it and b) sort of $$ you would get for it. It does work, thanks,

    Hi there Steve

    It looks like a nice big 3 cylinder air compressor - very nice indeed.

    As for cost - the smaller units go for around the $2-300 at auto places - so my guess for a unit this big second hand around $500 plus mark. If you were a bit closer I would be around as it looks like to could be big enough for my sand blaster unit.

    I would have thought that size would cost $2-3k new...
    so if it works, it's a good start for a home workshop using air tools...

    Thats a fair size tank, its a decent bit of gear and worth cleaning up, not sure of the brand though, only ever had a peerless and it never failed me, dont chuck it!

    We could be interested in it. What power supply is required for it - 240V single phase??, does it have any further info on the label etc

    Look for a CFM rating. Looking at one that size and being 3 cylinder price new could be somewhere from $2500 to $8000. I have seen big ones like this for $8k. I would say it would have to be about 20cfm. Its a big bugger and would be a keeper in my opinion. These types are used for proffessional painting or to air up large workshops.

    Thanks for the feedback, will have a closer look tomorrow when I am back at the house and get more detail. Goes to show how much I know about tools and stuff , dunno about keeping it, the missus just laughed when I mentioned it . Sorry Numpty sounds like it might be worth more than a carton , and Craig the post crete ( now that I know what it is) umm err got taken to the dump. Before I chuck anything else I may post it just in case it is worth something. I have a feeling now that I know more about what it is that the previous owner may have painted cars or something as there was putty and other types of paints, that ummm have also been chucked, again thanks for the feedback,

    I reckon get some new air cleaners, change to oil in it, washi it down and you'll have yourself an excellent compressor. What a bargain. As said, a similar sized Peerless will set you back around $2K.
