    Ever Seen a Ambo Camper?

    Hi All,
just wondering if anybody has seen a commodore Ambulance ute type fibreglass back been converted into a camper?

I found this and the brain started ticking over........ Campervan ambulance back - eBay, Other, Other Vehicles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 11-Dec-07 20:30:00 AEDST)

If you know of a good site that might have more info please let us know

We have a 6x4 off Road Dingo camper but like the idea of a quicker set up unit. Had a look at a few cub campers, very nice & quick but big dollers.....

I was thinking the ambo back would be good, differant but I like a challenge.........I have a mate who is more than happy to help build a trailer around/under the ambo back........

A commodore would get very awfully bogged off road though.

Was it on AULRO that someone made a trailer out of one of these?
I think it was a twin axle chassis under it.

here is one still on the ute Campervans & Motor Homes For Sale: Ex Ambulance now Camper. Commodore Ute Auto on Trading Post Online

Dont take to much notice of the inside or even worse the tarps used as a tent , Im just after some usful info..........

All I would do is build a trailer under the whole thing and also build in the front area for storage, battery, fuel or whatever.

Ive already got a heap of ideas, but as normal the back in NSW and Im in Vic.........

Anybody coming to Vic Via the Newcastle area soon ??

Still work out of one of these now and then, not a lot of room in the back and very little head room
The utes aren't standard either, they have had the load-bed extended and tend to rust at the joints

Haven't seen one converted to a camper but I know some Ambo's who hated driving the things - they had a very high centre of gravity. I suppose any camper trailer with decent head room will have this problem though..

What about one off the GMC's or would that be too big..? Hmm, yep I think it would.
