Christmas Day Lunch,Who does the club?

Generally every year we go to mums for Xmas lunch, she normally wangs on a fine traditional spread, but as shes ageing now and has bad knees we figured we would take it on this year to give her a rest from it, we sat down and worked out what we had to buy meat wise and everything else and we reckon its easier to rip down the Footy Club and do the Xmas day buffett there, is this a popular thing these days?

About 4 years back we escaped from the big family lunch and now go to a local club for lunch. Its great, good food, plenty of drinks, no washing up or cleaning up. We have been trying to persuade the rest of the family to come with us but no luck so far.
I think you will enjoy the change and the easy way to do Christmas lunch with someone else doing all the cooking and dishes etc, go for it.

We did christmas at home last year I cooked most of the meat the night before, had a few kgs of prawns as well just made the garden salads and salad dressings that day .
A cold chrissy dinner is less fuss
Its heaps easier when youve done most of the work the day before all I had to do was cut a few loaves of bread up, cut up the ham, chickens ,turkey make the salads and put everything on the table

If only it was one Christmas Day meal.

I think we're up to four major family Christmas get togethers, and just this week most of the hosts are trying to get up one more each.

    Cheers

I agree with the cold lunch, xmas day is generally a stinker heat wise, though they are predicting a cool possibly stormy one here, the added heat of running the turbo cooker to do chooks and what not just makes the house unbearable, the mess is another story, thats the scary bit and having several young hoodlums ripping around the house causing grief, I think I will push for a club do.

It's nice to hear what People for Xmas & how they go about spending chrismas with Family , We Don't Cerlebrate Xmas being a Muslim ,only have a get together with family ,now wheather you choose to do a Family BBQ and prepare Food yourself or take out all the Hasstles out of it and go to Local Club and have a Xmas Lunch or Dinner and be catered for , it really comes down to personal choice , But I do see your point about going out to a Club once in a while to be catered for and not having to wash up afterwards etc.

sorry for putting my 2 cents worth in.

We normally treat Xmas as any other day, as we are normally off camping somewhere, Xmas is for kids mostly i think, i love to see the look on their faces, especially the young ones.

A BBQ is what i like.

We used to be the ones doing the rounds of family for the day. Now we alternate between my parents and the wifes parents place. Luckily this also means we are not the hosts.
