New Cruiser 200...report from a US friend

Well, 10.8l/100km they say! My mate has just driven across the USA in his new ttv8 and averaged 15.7. so bang goes that myth. BYW, he was cruising at the legal limit of 70mph on highways and sticking to the limits in towns and cities. Now he acheived these AMAZING figures carrying a full load.... 2 adults, 1 five year old, 1 suitcase and a laptop.

Reports he's heard from those actually towing put it right up aound 20l/100k.

He did say that it is a very nice comfy piece of gear though, all except for the drivers door handle falling off, the passenger rear window winding down halfway and refusing to go back up (this was in Colorado last week BRRRRRRRRR).

Mind you, he's been a bit spoilt by his RR Sport TDV8 for the last 12 months.

No diesel Range Rover Sports are available in USA. (thanks to their greenies )
So those Toymota figures would be much better than any V8 petrol Sport !!!

I think its excellent that the new cruiser returns less than favourable fuel economy.

Americans need to be monetarily penalised at every given opportunity

Not defending Toymota at all But as Yanks still use gallons, and US gallons are smaller than imperial gallons, I would be interested in how the conversion was worked out before comparisons with factory claims are made.

Well, it is a couple of tons of motor car with poor aerodynamics. Get out your calculators (or slide rules for us old f**ts) and key in rolling resistance, wind resistance, mass, and speed and find out the horsepower requirements. Should tell you that any vehicle with those dynamics will use a lot of fuel. There is no magical way to repeal the laws of thermodynamics and get 30 miles per gallon out of a fat heavy block travelling at 70mph.
