Thread: what Landy/Rangie for towing?

Hi all the sale of the ex army landy has sparked my interest in the breed again.

I'm in the market for a very cheap tow vehicle mainly for pony club and the odd time i get motivated to ride my nags. I currently have an old 92 Pajero that just doesn't like the big loads anymore. I have been watching out for a Toyota 80 series diesol but i'm wondering if there is a land rover or range rover equivilent?

My price range is around $5k and i know that makes it difficult but i do have friends in the wholesale car market to help and they have been trying to push a few landy's onto me but i have steered clear of them because of lack of knowledge.

so if you guys can tell me what I should consider then i might look around?

I should be able to get a fleet model Toyo diesol for around the 5k mark with around 300,000k's on the clock well thats what i'm told anyway.

i have allways liked the idea of a V8 but i really have had no luck with petrol motors they just dont seem to last yet all my diesels are still going strong after many years of abuse.
