I had a similar problem making MP3 discs on the computer. It was something to do with not giving it a menu up front. My player couldn't read the menu. Once I sorted that out it was OK. Someone on here will know what I mean. If not I'll go back to the old disc & see what I did.
This is what the LR UK site says:
"New 2007 Defender now has auxiliary audio connectivity for iPod® and MP3 (hi line audio only). Optional high-mounted tweeters are also available in a Defender for the first time, improving sound quality and clarity."
To me that implies an input jack and not the ability to play CD's. Seems a rather poor show that the player isn't MP3 CD capable. In my experience though an iPod Nano or similar solid state player is better than a CD player in a four wheel drive.
wow, I was ready to post up about this myself. I've been researching an upgrade cd and mp3 player so thanks for doing the work solmanic. I'm glad I'm not the only one looking into this.
I have to say at paying 50 grand for a vehicle and then noticing it has not even an input for a 3.5mm jack i was pretty gutted.

Yup I upgraded mine to an Alpine D-100, lots of dosh but well worth it for those long drives. It does CD, DVD, MP3, Remote controls the iPod, GPS Sat nav, Blue tooth phone kit, Reversing camera. All in one din slot. In short everything! Very happy!:D
If you are interested in the Pioneer unit then go to your nearest Strathfield shop. I picked one up for $499. I am also hooking it up to a compact powered sub-woofer since the unit also has sub control. May not be terrific but I'll post a thread with all the details when it's done.Quote:

If you made your own MP3 CD and it won't play in a MP3 CD player a couple of things to check:
Make sure it is a CD and not a DVD, (sounds dumb but I've done it before:blush:)
Double check you "Finalised" the CD after burning, also called "closing the session" other wise almost nothing will play it.
Don't put your MP3's in folders on the cd, some players don't mind, some do.
Well the CD I burnt was just a bog standard all in the root directory type of CD (definitely wasn't a DVD) so I am thinking that it's a player issue not a burning issue.
Anyway - compared to the 130 which only has a Cassette player it is a good step forward and I can't be arsed changing it for another unit. I'll just burn Audio CDs and all will be good.
I bought one of these for my series II for not a small amount of change only to find out after installing it (3 hours is way too long!!!) that it doesn't play LPs. As I'm sure a lot of youse all know, Britney sounds like crap on CD and MP3. Needless to say I took it back and demanded a full refund.Quote:

Thanks, yes I'd be interested in the sub idea also. The sound is so flat in it I thought I'd enhance it. I'll admit straight off I don't understand it all but my partner is pretty good with that stuff so that can be sorted... I guess trial and error works with sound anyway.Quote:

I have a roughly 10yr old Panasonic/stacker (don't know the model) that has migrated thru a couple of cars so far (it didn't skip in a Sierra on corrugations so I'm quite attached to it;)).
Anyway, I had popped in 1 or 2 burnt CDs a few years ago and it wouldn't play so I thought well OK it's old style and doesn't like MP3s, so didn't try again.
A couple of years later SWMBO had popped one in not suspecting a thing, and voila, I find myself listening to a Beatles CD that I knew was MP3.
I checked a few others after that and sure enough, some MP3s will play, but some tracks and some whole CDs won't.
I've just put it down to quality and/or compression rate at time of ripping. I just can't make the poor old thing think too hard:D
