Whoops![]()
Never happened to me before, so thought, what the hell.
Maybe I shouldn't have used the shiny new dual layer burner.
Hmm.

Didn't see that episode of mythbusters, eh? Theres a reason drives don't go over 52x - even at that speed an undamaged disk can be shattered, let alone a cracked one.

2003 Discovery 2a
In better care:
1992 Defender
1963 Series IIa Ambulance
1977 Series III Ex-Army
1988 County V8
1981 V8 Series 3 "Stage 1"
REMLR No. 215
happened to me with a new PS2 game, the explosion damaged the lens on the console, I wasn't happy that day.
This is going to be a stupid question:
- Is a 52x drive doing 52 rpm (can't believe that)?? or is it 52 times faster than some standard rpm?
It's just that 52 rpm is obviously too slow to make a CD spin apart.
It's 52 times faster than the original CD Roms which spin at the same speed as an audio CD.
Regards,
Tote
A 52x drive will spin at around 27,500 rpmOr around two to three times as fast as your average angle grinder.
It's very rare that happens I have only seen it once in , (dunno a long time) but you will be very lucky if you drive still works.
The one I removed sounded like a a box of nuts and bolts being rattled.
Works fine, using it all day.Haven't burned anything.
Cheers
