G'day Folks :)
This could be a good move, as the other 2 previous owners only bought Landrover and subsiduaries for the technoligy, BMW for the info to get the MX series up and running, then sold it off but kept MINI as a brand name and a product, which turned out as a good vehicle.
Ford, wanted to get Jaguar into the fold to go with Volvo, but found it was too expensive to produce, they also made the mistake of putting it on a shared platform,(in Aust the Falcon) and people Stateside stayed with the product they knew, not the quaint "Pommie" car. Landrover was the only sector of the company that made money, but that had to go to sweeten the deal to get rid of Jaguar, In Australia, Ford closed down Landrover dealerships as it was competition for Ford(Aust) products like the Territory and Ford owned Madza, and their failure to get the 90 ADR-ed as a 4 seater (it is every where esle in the world) and lack of advertising didn't not help sales
So, with TATA becoming the owner, there maybe some shake-ups in attitudes in LRA that may be benefitial to us all, and just maybe the 90 will be imported into Aust and the "Closed shop" attitude of the Aust Industry gets a kick up :o and Landrover Aust. comes into line with the rest of the world with it's product lines :D
cheers
