A question on king or sunrayer wheels

although I still have suspension to sort at least I know whets needed there the very next major project is shafts and Rims and flares and there was a good point made on the 4wd month DVD by that chap that has the D2 lifted 4inches with SLS he said you want to go as wide as much as you go high which I intended to anyway

what I was just wondering when time comes to buying a set of after market steelies like king on or sunrayer just wondering if you can request any offset any width and stud pattern like a full custom type wheel or is make model specific widths and offsets come as is

any help would be appreciated I want to have wheel that is 2 inch wider in offset giving me probably 10inch Rim in 16's then next set of tyres I'll get 315/75R16 STT again which is 34.5 I like coopers I wish I could have a 325/80R16 but a 37 inch tyre would be a little huge I would imagine the flares I'm interested in are these

    Attachment 5713

    Attachment 5714

it is said that they allow you to fit a 36 x 12.5

any way any suggestion would be appreciated

The Sunraysias etc will probably come in a few standard offsets which are usually whats called Navara which is what all of the IFS Toyotas/Nissans/Holdens etc run and are typically 7" wide. The Landcruiser offset (-25mm) which is what they seem to run on the solid axle Toyotas/Nissans etc are usually 8" wide and will probably have the weels sitting about 3" further out per side in comparison to a D2 wheel if you can have them machined to suit. To go 2" wider, you also don't have to go to a 10" tyre, though it is always an option. BTW, that King wheels Ad in 4WD Monthly with the blue Disco2 is my truck - and there is a good reason why you can't see the wheels.

If you want a full custom rim you may be able to get the centres cut and rewelded back into the ri,, but there is an excellent company in Victoria called Eastern Wheel works that make excellent HD rims that are sexy to look at - and they do full custom rims.

Also, re the Rangie Spares flares. The squarer original flare is marketed to suit a 33" tyre, though people have been fitting 2" Body lifts and running 35's with them, so I'm not sure what tyre the 36" flares will run, especially if you've got bumpstop extensions. Perhaps a 37" - its the front that will be tight at the top of the inner guard from looking under mine

    Hi Slunnie

315/75R16 which is a 34.5 inch wheel all I want is 34-35 max that will do fine I suppose the taller I go the wider I have to go and the more reduction I need in gears

I would hate to see what custom wheels are worth, kings and sunnies are like what $150 each

Mate so what connections have you got with king wheels we should know about hay

LOL! Well, I've used King Springs in the past, I'm just about finished working at the Kings School, and my Disco was in a King Wheels ad. Thats about it.

I think EWW's used to be about $300/wheel a few years ago. Not sure now.

yeah Rick from BBM paid like $400 a wheel, that I cant justify specially if I'm going to use them primarily for off road they will scratch up real bad

King school is that an all boy school over in the hills, is it a high school or kindy to 12, the wife and I are keen to sell up next yearish to go to a better suburb for better schooling for our little girl who mind you is only 3 but you cant start to early can you

note I cant spell for the life of me left school in 1990 year 11 never read a book cover to cover still havent, I got close though once my wife taught me more in writing then the whole school system ever did in 8 years she converted me from builder labourer to supervisor in the Finance department for Medicare you can call it a make over I have no confidance in the public system to many kids fall between cracks

Kings is a boys only school at North Parramatta, from K-12. I'm just about out the door now, so I guess I can say what I really think about the place... It's the most mind blowing place that I've ever seen. For a school it is beyond outstanding and there is not enough that I can say that expresses the opportunity and education that the boys get here. It is also horrendously expensive with tuition at about $18k/pa and boarding another $20k/pa on top. If it can be a reality then the kids here have an excellent start in life and generally grow up to be excellent human beings. There is a public perception about the school as it gets dragged through the media, but it is a high energy place where just about everybody is very down to earth and not the snotty place that people seem to think it is. Having taught in state and private schools, city and country, I've seen nothing that comes anywhere close to what this school is like.

This said, also don't under estimate the public system. There are a lot of very dedicated teachers and very good schools also, especially in the Hills districts. Likewise there are quite a few non-govt schools in the area that I also understand are quite good.

I was reading the latest 4WD Monthly Gold modified, and that guy has Procomps which have more offset. I suspect they are Landcruiser rims but machined to LR offset, or paerhaps the normal LR D2 16x8's from Procomp! I'm not sure if Procomp in Victoria still sell them, which I assume they do, but I'm pretty sure I also saw those rims being marketed on the Dynamic4x4 (Simex) website also.

Theres a guy locally who does wheels, about 220 each i think he quoted me, any offset/stud pattern and they are solid looking wheels, he also does his own bead locks - JT Engineering at thornton.
