    Crazy !!!!

    From the news today.

If you try to steal someone's grog and hit them over the head with a cricket bat during the process and kill them, it is not murder it's grievous bodily harm .

If you are walking home from the pub and you are over .05 bac. you can be charged with drink driving if you walk near a parked car. Doesn't matter whose car it is or whether or not you have the keys. The police advise ......stay away from parked cars !

The authorities are considering banning vehicle mounted GPS systems as a safety measure. (you must be safer when you are lost ! )

    Has Australia gone completely mad?

    No, we're not mad.
We just get what we vote for!

Mind you, I have seen many cars with the sat nav stuck to the windscreen right in the field of view.

    just off princes hwy......

i was wondering how long before they banned the gps systems.......

you are not allowed to have a tv on whilst driving......yet....todays stereo
systems have a 7inch screen so you can watch dvds......
you have a screen for a reverse camera........
cars come with tvs built into the dash.......
and the gps is sitting on top of the dash......

all thats missing is a camera to see the road with......and we should be set......
we will be able to see where we are going during the commercial breaks.....

Instead of trying to ban Sat Nav Units, Police the installation of them in that when Police observe a vehicle with a Sat Nav Unit mounted in the middle of the windscreen (and I mean in the middle of the windscreen) then book 'em. No, I don't mean make the installation a requirement of professionals.

I sincerely hope no one on this forum has theirs mounted in this fashion - how you can think it doesn't obstruct your view is just insane. Mine is mounted bottom right corner of the windscreen (Ford Escape) almost sitting on the dash resulting in no vision lost. In the Disco, it is mounted aligned to the centre of the windscreen but low, with the unit resting on the dash when installed. I can see the bonnet over the top of it so no loss of vision.

Not rocket science but for some...maybe

    Nanny state

in WA police normally lay a charge of grevious bodily harm to hold person in case of an incident involving someone death they then upgrade the charge once they have more evidence especially a post mortem and foresenic to murder charge.

nothing new on talk about banning in car devices like radar detectors before them, mobile phones, cb's dvd steroe players using ipod etc anything can be a driver distraction even another passenger talking.

In UK they considering passing a law saying driver caught using a mobile phone gps dvd car steroe ipod etc will be jailed for up to 3 years for dangerous driving.

Since 1970's western society been living in a nanny state, post baby boomers with social consciences and desire tos ave the world from it sown destruction

In the news earlier it was also reported that a group of approximately 25 people attacked the family who was playing beach cricket. The group included ages from about 12 years old to adults.

Funny that only one was charged. They should lock up the whole bloody lot of them and throw away the key.
    Cheers .........

Ummm that's pretty much where I mount mine, underneath the reverse mirror and as low to the dash as possible... all the vision I miss out on is the bonnet?? I'm not sure but I reckon that's missing out on a view of the bonnet isn't that important when driving.....
