thats why i implemented the thanks button, for that very reason ...

how it ended up being used became a different thing altogether.

there is also a built in vbulletin reputation system, but i have reservations when it comes to things that could be used to define people, if you get my drift.

Getting thanked is nice, but it wouldn't take much for anyone that has benefitted (or not) from some advice to let everyone on the forum know how it turned out.
There are many requests for help on a problem that could be a number of different things, depends on how the asker describes the problem, for instance I once had a Driver of one of our trucks describe how the diff was howling, after a test drive it sounded like the crown wheel and pinion were stuffed. Pulled the Diff centre out (not an easy job), could find no problems with the diff, so put it back in. Took it for another test drive, this time I stood on the chassis behind the cab (prime mover) to listen for the howling which we thought was coming from the diff. Turned out to be one of the air line fittings on the end of the trailer air hoses rubbing and banging against the tailshaft, new spring to hold the airlines up off the t/shaft and problem solved.
My point being there may be many different bits of advice to fix a problem and it would be nice to hear back and find out what the problem actually was and what fixed it, so everyone can benefit from it, Regards Frank.
