    geez louise...

I am meant to work mon-fri - fixed hours are 8:30-18:00, so 42.5 hours a week (on salary).
I actually work mon-fri 8:30-till I walk away for the night... sometime as early as 19:30, ususally later...

You guys are in a dreamworld with penalty rates, RDO's, long service leave.....

Did that for years in my current job. I built up 85 days annual leave and 30 days worth of flex. Got to the point where we had ti lie about my hours. Now I only do the standard except for the odd day. I also have remote access and work from home sometimes.

    Every second friday
Prefer to work the RDO if possible, time and a half for the first 2 hours then its DOUBLE BUBBLE for the rest of the day
RDOs come in real handy at long weekends and holidays, you get 4 day weekends, and they stretch your holidays out real well.

Ooh! Green eye. Never mind, work hard, lots of o/t, save your pennies and pump up your super and maybe one day you too can take early retirement as soon as you think you can afford it. I did, and recommend not staying in the work force one second longer than you have to. Don't die on the job or shortly after.

I'll be able to tell you when I've got a job again.

I told them what to do with their job in November and have been working at home for SWMBO since then. Past 7 years has been pretty much Monday - Friday 10 - 12 hours per day, plus on call 24/7. Might go back to fly in / fly out again - at least then your days off are really days off.

But I'll probably enjoy another couple of months or so doing my own thing before I start looking again.
    Cheers .........

My previous job let me accumulate extra hours over a base 35 hour week to take a max 1 leave day per a 3 week cycle. Thems the perks of government jobs, certainly don't see much of that in the private sector!

I have just left that though for self employment, so now I get to choose whatever hours I work!! Don't get paid for the holidays though You just have to load your hourly rate to cover your "down time".

When I first started my general training, (when Lucy Osborn was the tutor sister and Florence Nightingale was ... ) the roster actually specified when you were off duty. An example was an AE + Afternoon and Evening off, which meant that you worked in the morning from 7.00 am or an M = Morning off which meant that you actually worked in the afternoon. Along with DO for day off you had your roster.

I guess the philosophy was that we were possessions of the hospital and always on duty (a bit like slaves). The matron then graciously gave us time off.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
