Do you need to replace your Disco? Perhaps a roof rack or decent trailer might be a better option if space is your only issue.

You have the best vehicle at the moment,late 300TDI Disco, I would think of a roof rack or 6x4 trailer, or, if you can get it a No 5 trailer like Incisor used to tow behind his D1 300tdi Auto brilliant off road,and light&easy to tow behind a Disco you can do a lot of paint repair and detailing for 5K

Yes mate, your point is very valid, I know my rig and is excellent, and I have a trailer with Rangie wheels and hard canopy. My only worry is the restriction of towing trailers in the bush tracks. Not much experience in that.
I also was looking in the way to protecting the lower half panels of the Disco. I am in the evaluating process and i take my time before jumping in.

Thanks mate my trailer have off road springs and very heavy duty chassis. I towed it all ready for 40,000 km without problems and have the capacity to sleep inside or just use for the storage of good for a long expedition. Perhaps I can fit the axle under the springs to give more clearance.
i was considreing the option of having a hard top roof tent which can be used on the top of the trailer or in the disco by fitting a roof bars.

Nice trailer I would go the underslung axle,with reversed "U" bolts like the No 5's it will give you a 2" lift without drama,also should give horizontal towing height, if not,you can then lift the disco by 2" and then all you have to do is to fit side slider bars to protect the lower body, all removable from the vehicle if you onsell it, but if the rear towing hitch is at the lower car type height then all you need is to raise your towing coupling

The Disco have Bilstein shocks and 40mm raised King springs, you are right, I get rid of the yuppy side steps and make a decent pair of side protectors. If it is required, perhaps fit electric brakes in the trailer. The controller is already in the Disco
Just wonder if it will be good lift the body of the Disco by 1 inch (so does not require any big under body work)
A proper bull bar and recovery points are on the list if I keep the rig

Yup, I bought it to use it.

Yes, we all have different priorities and look our assets in different ways.
I rather purchasing a old Rangie to do extreme 4WD and keep this vehicle as family car.
