Congratulations on the parking test:), you are a "Rural" are you not, see if there is a farmer that you know that has an old Crash Gearbox farm truck that you can have a drive of,and practice on, double clutch up and down,;) that will get your ear in for the revs, and if you can drive a crash box smoothly you can drive anything that is HR:) did my truck license in a Studibaker 6x6 WW11 vintage, left hooker and all, then my Bus in a crash box Bedford, woman tester Qld Tpt, and she was HARD:( saw her return with the pupil ahead of me and SHE was driving the B61 Mack:eek: and they ain't easy.

Congrats, when I moved to Oz I had take my standard driving test, (just the computerised multi choice bit) and was nervous < spelling?? enough with that ! it was about 17 years ago since I first passed my test.

Anyhow just saying I know what you mean welll done.

HR what weight is that?

HR = 8 tonnes G.M.V and above with 3 or more axle's.....

To be honest I have no idea what the thoery test is like, when i got my car ticket back in 1988 it was still on a paper sheet but multiable choice.......Im guessing its all on a pc touch screen now.......

as you shuld already hold a drivers liscence the test should be 20 multiple guess questions specific to the rules and regs for HR

including

permissable BAC
weight load limits per axle
dimension limits
permitted rest/drive times
where can you park it
suggested following times for traffic

its not hard. I always have trouble with the load limits thing as that changes state to state, not much but enough to make you blow a question. pass mark is 80%.

The prussure is on me as another member of my brigade got his HR liscence a few weeks ago and got 97% :eek:. Thats the highest mark ever given in our area, or so we were told anyway.

Thats the main reason Im going for mine, its a matter of, if he can get I will have no problems.......Might sound cocky but the other guy is....well lets just say he is a bit simple, good bloke but is the typical type bouncer, loves his job :bat:.

He got 97% but to be honest I have no idea how, Im hopless at spelling etc but he can hardly read and wright, but I relise its not his fault.......

But having said that one day after getting his ticket he took a local santa on a run to a school before xmas.....and took out the side of the tanker on a couner of a house.........:eek:. So he may have passed the test but has more driving to do.

We see that alot around here, as soon as they get the ticket they think thats it, well I think its only just starting, still need to do lots of hours to get better......but thats just me.

In our Brigade we have a system that we need to follow in gaining a "Code 1" tick, which means we cant drive to a job lights and bells for a while and even then a senior driver needs to be in the truck if we do. Thats just to prove that we dont do anything stupid, well if thats the case maybe some of the guys need to go back to basics and start again :wallbash:

Thanks for the link Gav, I have a Vicroads book but its dated Feb '05 so Fred is getting me an updated version just in case there have been any changes.

Yes doing it through CFA. Will cost around the $225 mark all up, ie $200 for the driving test and around $25 vicroads costs......but I will get $175 back from CFA if/when I pass ;).

So Ron B (P38 Ron) here is your chance to get your HR ticket.....Join the CFA or local NSWRFS Volenteer brigade help others and yourself at the same time :soapbox: ;):)
