Hey - I'm very happy to share our first few "Land Rover Experiences" with the good people here on AULRO :)

I've asked Kat to find me a pair of AULRO issue leopard boxers for future forays into the wilderness, so thanks for the fashion tip Capt!

We have an Opposite Lock Rackmaster (2m) rack - very low profile and I reckon it looks good on the truck.

The Freedom Northern Tourer is a great tent - as Spudboy alluded to - they are very easy (and quick) to deal with - 4 pegs, 1 centre pole and it's up. It's very nice kit.

I tend to put the tent on the roof - along with our swags as it is simply easier. I have room to put it all inside - but then access to the other stuff is slightly more difficult so why bother? Lift it all straight up - tie it all down. Done in under 5 minutes. It's out of the way and secure. I've also found that we're still getting 9-10litres /100 km with or without stuff up top so use it I say.

How much stuff do we need for a weekend camp? I reckon you need the same amount of stuff that you'd need for 3 months away. I mean - we still need the pots and pans, cooker etc. But really what we're doing is "practicing" for our big lap in May - packing everything in, working out what we do / don't need, and working through how to pack and manage everything.

We're certainly really enjoying the new world Grover has opened up for us - I'm glad I can share it all with interested (and interesting!) people like yourselves :).

thats why we all have them to start with,opens a whole new world of cheap adventure...............

Nothing quite like a muddied Defender sitting in it's natural territory - the bush.

And ... with the "strawberries and cream" - a well written account of someone's latest adventure.:D

Certainly gives a moment's relief away from the hassles work whilst the mind wanders off into the World of Landrovering and camping.:eek:

Thanks for posting, the two best parts of a good camp site are; nobody else; and a running creek.

Fantastic and what a great spot for a camping....might have to dust off my copy of Dirty Weekends and get up there. As for the leopard skin shorts, I think you will find that was Stevo68 from AULRO and our club GCLRO, who accidentally firstly got stuck in his own backyard cutting the grass and secondly, was wearing said leopard skin shorts at the time the stranded pic of him was taken:D Sorry Stevo, if I didn't tell them someone would:D:D
