.......................& if you can't get stuff into the storage pockets, tie the heavy stuff down securely to the bottom of the barrier frame.
Glad they were all ok. As it's often said, "You can get a new car but not a new family".
Yep the cargo barrier did the job, my wife had the big double decker pram in the back, and I had my towbar tongue stowed *safely* in the side pockets, the consequenses of either of those items travelling onto the passenger compartment are unthinkable...
As reality sinks in and all the 'what ifs' play thru your mind you really do realise how quick everything you hold near and dear could be changed.
I guess the takehome message is fit a cargo barrier, stow your gear for the worst case scenario, and ALWAYS put your kids in the best capsule or car seat you can afford...
And yes it WAS a real nice truck......
Cheers,
Johnsy

Hell mate, blessed you are. Glad everybody is all OK.
Retired from that now myself, I can not think of a worse situation.
You are a lucky man Johnsy. It's bad enough having to pull friends out of that, let alone family. I know. I've had to do just that (friends). Do it again?
Yes I bloody well would. It's what I have always done, man and boy.
And I'll only stop trying, when I can no longer draw breath.
Stay strong brother, your doing the hero stuff mate.
As for crash testing Disco's, haven't Land Rover already done that?
Glad you're family is safe.

More to come!!!!!! (Wife permitting!)"
Looks like your wife didn't really want you spending more on that jollopy.
At the end of the day - cars are replaceable - loved ones aren't.
