thanks for the info.
i bought the rangie in a condition to be repaired. not really mechanically minded. i'll give explaining the problems a go.
feels like it has a very bad broken leg driver front and fractured other three legs :) also a real loud clunk and hardly any steering may be more things wrong, really don,t know.

as for the part about women, a part of me wanted not to say what sex i was, so the dynamics of the sexes would be deleted. a friend said i would be being shifty if i allowed you all to think i was male. :angel:

I wasn't mechanically minded either, until i bought my Rangie in "needs repair" condition... I do it all myself now (and don't really have all the tools or the shed to do it, but i manage).Quote:

you bought is as a fixer-upper,,
so you must have been prepared to spend some $$$
While no one here expects you to swap transfer cases,, most of us will bend over backwards to help you figure out whats wrong,, advise a likely cure, and usually a ballpark figure to repair it.
There is a cost to all this---

I had an old 2a diesel on the vineyard which went to Cooma last time.Then I thought wow i'd love a Rangie-have to be better than the old holden V8 ,so bought a 79 2 door knowing very little of the traps -cost me but who cares I had some great trips around the NW Vic parks with it and boy it was comfortable to drive.However it was a bit past it and was advised to buy the present vehicle-a 1998 Defender which had 80k on the clock at the time.Since done the Simpson and the left side of the country 1/2 circle towing a small van.I still love the V8 burble but the fender is just as comfortable to drive and diesel economy is great now I'm retired,
