You're already in the mining industry, why not just a re-direct to the mines themselves.
Go north in your home state? The Territory?
The Murray Mallee in SA are mining mineral sands.
The industry in general, seems to need the manpower at the coal face so to speak.

There seems to be a lot of infrastucture construction starting again.
Get a big "tonka toy" license for heavy earthmovers.
Try transport. Both of you get a "B double" license and travel and earn at the same time. $1.32 per K at 2 or 3,000 K's per week? Dogs like that too.:D
You're still young enough, try the defense services.
There is so much to do, and you are still only young get.
Get into your Landy and go on a working holiday.:D

At your age I emigrated to the other side of the globe and I made it. not worries.:)

Tasmania is a beautiful place if the cold weather does not bothering you, but because the weather the cost of living is high.
If you invest in a block of land in the wide bay area for around $ 100.000 and build a small barn/house then you have you base camp wher you all ways can come back.
Once you are set then mate hit the road and have fun.
Howard and Childers in Qld have the potential for a good investment, new mines coming to Howard area ;)

Mate your still young do it i wish i had of when i was 23 id just finished my trade as i started late and was in the same spot your in now i stayed in a booring job then got involved with a woman had kids worked my a55 off got nowere ,,,
Now im 33 have left the missus now the 2 kids live with me i had to leave the best job ive had to raise the kids wont be goin back to work fo another year or so now ....
But im still young and in time i can get back to work and once my 2 kids have grown a bit more i can look foward to a good life again ...
My advise dont put off today what ya mite not have time for tomoro :D:D:D
My current career I started at 25. I went from a good job in retail as the assistant manager to a trainee public servant. Once I got over the pay shock it has been the best thing I ever did. All you need is enough money to survive.
The best job is a job you love. If you love it then the money doesn't matter. Every time my boss encourages me to look at better jobs I respond with the only thing they can offer me is $$$ and then what if I hate the job. Satisfaction and enjoyment are worth more than the cash.
mate in my experience, (so far) if you don't do whats in "your heart of minds", you will regret it for the rest of your life and the only advise i can give you other than that is "always make sure your partner is buy your side on all these decisions!"

Seriously, just do it. I left my trade at 34 and started a new career and glad I did. Now 54 and am contemplating a new move....................RETIREMENT.:angel:

I love the place (taz). But employment for young people can be challenging to find.

Just do it.
I was 35 when three major customers went bust on me - and rooted my business. So after I paid off my chaps and paid the bills I shut down, packed two suitacased and head off -
I ended up first in Hong Kong, then Singapore, then the Philippines ....and finally Australia some years later.
Best thing I ever did.
Christ at 23 you still have nappy rash :D;)
