didn't he see the pretty colours on the back of the gpo?
at least his earth bond was intact, he could have ended up with electric taps
bingo, neutral/earth swap...... claimed he put them in the same holes they were in on the old GPO..... $10 GPO cost him over $150 lol

LAND ROVER;HELPING PUT OIL BACK IN THE GROUND FOR 70 YEARSCARS DON'T GET ANY "GREENER" THAT.

It was and it did ! Thanks for that.
The switch part had popped out of the plate so, (after turning off the power) I pushed it back in with an insulated flat head driver. I know I could have used my fingers but you can't be too careful IMO. I'll tell the missus to just leave it turned on. Thanks again
Maybe I shouldn't complain about that too much as after all I'm not a sparky and shouldn't really be doing it; but I would have much rathered he just said "I don't know" than give wrong advise. I was quite specific telling him that this was not a light switch and it isolated the oven and had oven printed on it.
I had a look and it's 20A
I know that feeling I used to do the rounds fixing computers and a couple of times people would say,(for example) how come you charge $130 for a Hard Drive when I can get one for $99 from XXX
I would explain it's faster, got twice the cache and has a 5 year warranty, oh and I put $10 on the price for having to go get it as you specifically asked for a whatever size GB HDD. I'm quite happy to put an el'crapo HDD in your computer for less $$$ but I wouldn't give a warranty with the job.
The sad fact is EVERYONE thinks tradies of all descriptions are out to rip them off. The even sadder fact is that some tradies do and give everyone else a bad wrap. Most just try to supply a quality product and a good service.
It does good to vent
I have had a little Pay Back to dumb shop assistants a couple of times, once after overhearing what they where telling an old couple looking to buy a PC that was an obvious load of S*** I just waited till he was out of earshot and told them he didn't know what he was talking about and they should go to XXXX where they will get proper advice.
Another time was a simmilar situation an assistant was talking BS about CPU cache and speeds so I just asked him to explain again and he said he was busy and would get someone else to help.
I suppose it gets back to it's better to say I don't know than to give bad advice or just plain lie just to get a sale.
Thanks again everyone
You guys are paying way to much for your gpo's
Hang over, just go and buy a plain 35a mech, doesn't have to have oven written on it aslong as its labled at the board.
It is a stupid reg, thank god its kind of been abolished, now it only has to be installed if its a cooktop where the knobs are at the back, as in you have to reach over it to turn it off.
As in the edition that came out acouple of months ago?
Haven't read it yet, spoke to an inspector a couple of months ago and thats what he told me.
