and new undies!
Not necessarilly due to poor driving skills. Some corners can be very deceptive and difficult to read. For that many cars to go off in that one spot, something like this has to be the reason.
I encountered an example of such a corner many years ago. During a rally at Jimna, one of my mates went off on a corner and hit a tree - made a real mess of the rear door and roof of the Gemini. Some time later, we were travelling back from a rally based in Gympie and decided to go via Jiimna and find the corner that claimed the Gemini. While looking for the corner (using the old notes) another mate put his Corolla off and into a tree. While taking out his anger on the tree, he found a petrol filler cap off a Gemini in the same unique aqua colour as the car in question. It became obvious that this corner (which was deceptively off-camber) had claimed a second car and by the bits and pieces around the tree, many others too.
Both drivers were very experienced having competed at national level. A case of driver error caused by a bad corner!
This is the story with that corner:
"That is Ek3 in the Pirkanhovi Ralli 2004. The final of F-Cup championships in Finland. I have load up a clip from the first stage of that rally, not the worst corner ever. But for one car it was. But then another clip from 040614 Waltikka Ralli F-Cup in the summer 2004 with more Corollas and Escorts drifting on and off the roads."
Sorry - I just love rally driving.......
Got to say Fins produce some pretty good rally drivers and how about 'Unit One' on SBS?
