They are not bad. We have them at work, but do not have the quality of Blue Tongue or Big Red. They are not a bad intermediate price option. But you do get what you pay for and I have seen these overheat (not destruct) and a lot of cheaper models fail completely. You may get a good run out of a cheapie but almost guaranteed it will let you down at the worst possible moment.
My pick if i was buying again would be the twin blue Tongue, expensive but should last.

Our Club has a Twin Blue Tongue - it's two Blue Tongues bolted back to back.
It rocks for tyre inflation - I don't know of any 12V portable compressor that would be quicker !
not cheap though.

Ok guys im leaning towards the bushranger!! ;) its your last chance to talk me out of it :D

Super Crap used to sell and I think still do a Bushranger Max Air copy (Viair ??) compressor for about half the price of the Max Air.

Only has a plastic filter housing compared to the new Max Airs with a metal one..

Mine only has a 20% duty cycle @ 24*C/100psi and the new Max Air II's are rated at 30% duty cycle , but mines quite a few years old now.

I was going to put a new teflon piston ring in a spare P38A EAS compressor and use that - it could then be a backup for the main EAS compressor if needed. The P38A compressors are made by Thomas in the USA.

The Defender came with an ARB one for the air lockers, with a tyre inflator added on.

I have a $70 Max Air look alike that can pump 2.5 tyres in the time the ARB pump one (20-40psi). The Max Air look alike (same bag, same connectors, same filter, same hose, different logo) is rated at 150psi and 70lpm.

Hey Mate - I have the bushranger max air 2, portable & very quick - they're worth the money.

I have a VIAIR protable one (got a good deal on it) and a cheapo from the DIY-store. The VIAIR is great, the cheapo slow and crappy but hasn't let me down. Yet.
I missed the "quality" option on the choice menu, too.
