There is always an underlying issue if it drives worse on road without a damper

I have 245/70/16 Lt and run 40 psi allround. Have no problems with grip but is slighty harsher in ride than some would like. I used to run 35 psi front and rear on 235 coopers and was quite happy. Car manufacturers give lower psi readings softer tyres will give more grip and absorb more bumps making the cars ride quality feel better than if they set them up for longer tyre life and better fuel economy. Most tyre shops will give you what they recomend using on a given tyre for a particular vehicle and it is almost always higher than car makers.
Howdy,
i knew i could count on you guys to confuse me, i'm prety new to the Land Rover world. However, i got some good info from each reply. I have no added extras to my Disco (yet) and run it with no gear onboard unles I'm going away. I reckon that I'll run them in the mid 30's and see how it goes.
Pedro, my tyres are Michelin 4x4 Synchrone (does that mean anything!!!). They appear to be wearing ok at the moment
Thanks people
Cheers
