    Book in advance

Just learnt that here in QLD you now have to make a phone booking
in advance, if you want a camp site in any QLD national park !
No book no camp pee off.
Fine if you know where you are next going to be in advance, and have phone coverage. Next G anyone.
Hate these modern times, dont I.
    Cheers I think.

PS: Nearing time for us to get the hell out of QLD.
Was thinking about Quilpie but now maybe around Lynhurst or Marie,
If I could by property out of town ?

Freshwater camping area (beach bit) hasn't had self registration for years. The way I found out was I went there and there was no hut so that was a free weekend

I don't know what they are doing in the other parks.

I imagine that the travellers without day to day plans will just not pay. People generally want to do the right thing but if it is made difficult for them to do so then they will just say "stuff them".

We usually book online but have used the self registration facilities.

Had a quick look at QPWS website and you can still book online at the moment,
where did you get your info from?

I think he just meant no more self registration on site. Phone/internet is the way they are headed. Also drop into the ranger station but that might be a little out of the way and not necessarily staffed all day.

That would make sense, went to look at a little park near here a few weeks back and the self registration box had been smashed open.

If you can't self register and you didn't know or plan to stay there it will be interesting to see what happens if a Ranger rolls up.

I am sure we will hear more about this.
I heard a rumour that they may give the whole fee thing away altogether,
    now that would be good.

Parks are underfunded enough as it is so can't see them doing that. However collecting money costs money so perhaps the amount of money they need to charge to cover the cost of charging the money is higher than the people they surveyed are willing to pay

I was told by Parks that there was a 4wd permit going to be required for Teewah Beach etc coming too. That was 4 years ago now.

An annual park fee or something similar I would be willing to go with.
    Providing it was reasonable.
I think WA has something like it?

NSW and Tassie have pay in advance park fees (yearly, monthly etc) but they don't include camping fees.

    mrs ho har here
I read on the epa website that they now have camping credit you pay in advance of how mwny nights you need and can use them at any campsite just quote your booking number that they give you. Ithink that this is a great idea as we don't usually know where we will be either.
