Getting a prospective purchase inspected - Brisbane ?

OK so I;ve found a 130 that I quite like, However, it's at a car yard and they won't let me take it anywhere to get it inspected ! (Just want a bloke to come on site to drive / inspect it ) they certainly won;t let me take it from the Southside to my Northside LR mechanic to get it checked.

The dealer actually provided me with the name of a guy who is allegedly an expert and can do inspections. Alarm bell rings - would you use someone a car yard told you about to inspect a car they are selling ? Exactly.

Anyway the inspector fellas name is Michael Bamford of "Automobile Inspection Service (Qld)" (AISQ).
If anyone knows of this fella would they please PM me to advise what they know.

I'm tempted just to say jam it but its a nice looking rig with a few bits on it I like. You'd think the dealer would do whatever it takes to sell it !

    Anyway...

If anyone can offer advice or recommend someone who could give it a good look over please feel free.

Howdy Mate , Seems like you need to tread with caution around this one if he won't let it get inspected by anyone other than the one he wants it done by ...... be careful

my schedule says I can go give it a look see for you on either saturday or sunday arvo and since I have to go out and do some minor spannering as well I'll do that on the way back.

let me know which youd prefer so I can line up the spannering job to suit.

This sounds like the 4X4 place at Kedron.

I got Racq mobile inspections to go to my Solmanics house and inspect it before i purchased. Saves the stuff around of having to take it anywhere.

Yeah they are pretty expensive. Probably because they really have a niche, unless you bought at LR.

They always seem to get nice LR's there. They had/have a really nice black 90... 38k I think they want.

If the dealer won't allow an inspection that is truly independent you should walk immediately. Anyone recommended by the dealer has an inherent conflict of interest. The most obvious outcome of that conflict is that so long as the inspector says the cars are good, the work continues to go his way.

Without your own inspection done on your own terms you have no solid basis for working out the value of the car. Dealers know that most private buyers make their decisions for reasons that are not exactly rational, so if the car's a dud he knows you might buy it anyway just because you really like the look of it.
