my dad bought me my first car and insured it for me.

It was an 850 mini 1974 (it was a year older than me)

When i say he bought it... well he paid for it and then i paid him back. I was a student earning 55uk pounds a week working evenings and he made me pay him back at 50 pounds a week.. which left me a whole fiver for fuel...

just to make sure i didnt get used to any kind of being spoilt... he also racked up board (as in rent) at 20 pounds a week while i couldnt afford to pay it becuase of the car payments and generously let me pay it back after i paid for the car

I appreciate everything he did as i really really appreciate everything i buy.. and that mini... i finally got rid after it rotted beyond repair about 6 years later but i did miles and miles and miles in it!

    Thanks

    Steve

There is a lot of that in this thread. Some many people seem to think that thier life is the only real and valuable life. Its equally as sad as the old "In the real world" comments where apparently only the poster could understand the "the real world". The real world and in real life is different for everybody. I'd hate to think what the genuinely desperate people think of us all living in our silver spoon world with internet, cars, houses and food.
    Cheers

anyone who says they arent is a liar, true I am jealous, but the comment wasn't based on me being jealous, it was more a comment that someone who gets a car like that given to them at the age of 17 really will never know what its like to work for a living, which would be nice not to have to do. But as Slunnie said each persons life if relative to the environment they have been brought up in, and I cant begin to think what life is like for those who's kids have to go without.

Who wouldnt like their father to have the money to buy them a RRS?

Good point slunnie, never looked at it from those who may see us in the same light as we see the those with RRS's at 17 years of age from Daddy.

I wont deny im jealous, i'd love it if my dad could afford to buy me a RRS.
