Hey there are a lot of good car salesmen. Gold City Land Rover used to be great, EMG & Nissan in Esperance are pretty good. No high pressure selling.
Just treat your customers with respect, If they are there to look then chances are you are not going to make a sale, If they are there to buy you can bet they know what they are looking for. Approach politely and offer assistance, if they are unsure they will respond.
Hate yards where there is pressure selling and competition between salesmen to make quotas. They should work together to meet their quotas. I have walked out of several yards when intending to buy because salesmen have been overbearing or trying to get you to buy a car you are not interested in. But have also walked out of yards where salesmen do not give you the time of day.
    Best of luck

Well blokes Ive spent the last tree days trying the new job on for size and I sold my first car today

It was a 06 Ford Focus to an older lady who went to school with my mother, I guess it does mean something to have a good family name and rep around the area

So it was very easy and hassle free experance for everybody, everybodys happy.......New owner got a great deal and a great little car she loves , the boss is very happy as I got my first sale and me of course because I did it the way I want to sell cars (no crap, and helpful) just the same as when/if I take the job on for good.

I told the boss I will think about giving him an anwser on tuesday if I will do it full time, but just between us I reakon I will take it.....Ive really had a ball playing around with cars, talking to diffferant people even tyre kickers who may become buyers, no bloody nightshift etc etc its all good

Well done mate I know exactly what you have just gone through I have in the last year thrown away a Security career of 8 years as I was sick and tired of talking to dickheads all day and working day and night shifts.
Since getting out of Security I have been happier and have had better financial security that before. I went in to the Transport industry driving trucks.
Home every night and finally getting paid properly with all benefits.

Hope it all goes well don’t look back as the Security Industry is stuffed similar to the Law Enforcement Industry!.

Ensure commission is paid as of right, not at discretion of management, and not withheld until the trade-in is sold. Does the company have a "greasy pole" system for retention/dismissal of sales staff? The "greasy pole" was popular with the company stores run by a four letter word Australian manufacturer. In this system volume was paramount. These company stores usually worked on a quota of 20-22 new cars per month each salesperson. The salesperson with the lowest figures each month would be carpeted and told they would be sacked if no improvement. Sometimes the lowest performer was sacked anyway as an example to the others. Anyone below quota for say three months was regarded as "stale" or "gone bad" and sacked.
