Most of us pay 30% tax + on each dollar we earn So if you pay $1.35 for fuel it really cost you $1.76 and then there is the sales tax and excise tax you pay on your $1.35 petrol. So now think how much you really pay.
Why is it the US can have a much lower price?

It's not a coincidence, fuel companies do what is called "discounting" on monday-wed, in order to try and even out supply during the week. When I worked at a refinery, the companies were open about this. Refineries prefer to run constantly (constant output), it costs $$$ to start up and shut down plant, so the discounting is an effort to even out demand.Quote:
