"Geez I hate it when people merely change the country name in some SPAM email that has been passed around the US and now made it to Australia."
Can you be sure that it is spam?
Just reading this thread is a reflection of the saying:
Divide and concur.
What is being shown here is that we seem not to be able to collectively agree on any strategy that will gain the attention of those we want to expose or defeat.
Most of us pay 30% tax + on each dollar we earn So if you pay $1.35 for fuel it really cost you $1.76 and then there is the sales tax and excise tax you pay on your $1.35 petrol. So now think how much you really pay.
Why is it the US can have a much lower price?
Economies of scale and import power
More Production and facilities
US based oil companies
Economic and political power
We make up about 2% of the global economy and are at the bottom of the world geographically.
PS Venezuela pay about 8c litre at the pump:eek:, but they hate the yanks
don't forget its got a lot to do with the amount of tax each government puts on the sale of petrol
the oil companies do a hell of a lot more work than a bottled water company but somehow a liter of bottled water costs more than petrol ;)
Absolutely it's SPAM.
It's an unsolicited junk email and worse than that it has been forwarded multiple times.
That makes it SPAM go and see Wiki

Hey Cruiser, if you want your dollars to go somewhere good, Woolworths is giving 100% of all supermarket profits today to Country Women's Assoc. and Landcare.
And this one is real :)
Woolworths Drought Action Day 2008
It's not a coincidence, fuel companies do what is called "discounting" on monday-wed, in order to try and even out supply during the week. When I worked at a refinery, the companies were open about this. Refineries prefer to run constantly (constant output), it costs $$$ to start up and shut down plant, so the discounting is an effort to even out demand.
Bottom line - is if you want to save money - fill up on a monday or tuesday. OR - WALK/RIDE like DaveS said.
Btw - as others have said, the "no fuel day" is a crock of $hit and doesn't work.
