    I travelled through Afghanistan and then down the Khyber Pass into Pakistan in '75 and enjoyed it immensely. At that stage the people were very friendly. True the countryside was barren, but the very colourful dress of a lot of the local women made for a very interesting contrast.
    Wouldn't have missed it for quids. Almost traded my blond haired partner for 2 camels .....
