    Kelly the Kelpie

Around 9 1/2yrs ago I got very, very drunk in the back of a horse truck, little did I know at that point in time that them drinkies would result in years of pleasure, memories and today heartbreaking decisions.

I got trashed and said yes to a dog, a Kelpie, she was the runt of the litter, probably no good for a working dog and was apparently destined for the sack in the river.

Today I had the horrible experience of getting my beloved friend Kelly "the Kelpie" put down. Last week she was just a normal 9 1/2 yr old puppy, like all Kelpies she was a ball of energy, a few days ago she went off her food, had trouble going to the toilet and was generally lathargic which for her is very uncharacteristic. As always she was always happy to see me wagging her tail all the time, till the very end. Took her to the vet today, X-rays discovered what I had thought, that C*** called Cancer. So I signed away my mates life.

She can never be replaced. It was an honour to have known her.

Jeez, Matt, sorry to hear that. I know how you feel having had to do the same thing last year with our Lab of 14 years.

If you have a few tears welling up as you wrote that, then you'll be like me when I wrote about ours and when I read the well wishes of those on this forum.

    All the best,

    Ron

    G'day Dobbo

My and my wife's condolances to you and your family as I have had to do similar thing recently, our Devon Rex cat was put down on 9/2/08 suffering Alzheimer's disease, was losing the plot badly,he was a rescue and the vet said somewhere between 14-20yrs, not easy at the best of times, and doubly so when there are children just remember the good times and the memories.
