    Preparation is seriously underway

    for trip to Australia.

12 month multiple entry visa applied for. Embassy want proof of funds.

Carnet applied for. Estimates from shipping agents coming in. Looking at flight costs etc.

Even got details of spectator packages from Outback Challenge, although they sent it in a zip SIT file format which I had to get my IT consultant to open. Form will be faxed later today.

110 has extra fuel tank fitted, 70 litre water tank, engine mounted compressor fitted, very extensive service, new Kenlowe fitted, head gasket replaced (boiled engine due to fan failure on last trip!), underside steam cleaned, awaiting waxoyling. Inside has beeen stripped out, old carpets thrown away, new rubber matting throughout.

Things are going on apace. Hopefully the 110 will be shipped out at end of March.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, that your embassy decide that I am allowed in!

    Regards

    Brendan

PS Thanks for all help and advice that AULRO forum users have given me in last few months. Might even manage to meet up with a few of you Aussie LR owners for a few

    Brendan,

Are you the same "leeds" from LRO? Do you recall my name from LRBoards, the ex-LRO forums, the "Queer Queen from Down Under"...? At one point I was quite a prolific poster? On any account - a get together in Melbourne is a MUST

Will be in Melbourne/Victoria area around the first two weeks in June.

After spectating at the Outback Challenge I am going to Adelaide to fly to Singapore to join up with my partner for a week. Will be returning to Adelaide around 2/3rd June then head towards Melbourne to do some of the shorter tracks before heading north for some longer tracks. Currently studying Great Desert Tracks for ideas.

Any suggestions for other reading materials?

Joel for my sins I register as leeds on all the LR forums I go on. Must admit I did wonder why you got the title as 'Queer queen from down under' Do you want to explain that one away? My title on LRO used to be 'Evilgit'

    Regards

Don't bother getting too carried away with steam cleaning.. it'll have to be done again when the car gets here.

So8nds great mate. Give us a shout when you get to Brissy

Oh And bring a Viscose fan with you . Cheap to buy and belive me you may need to put it back on . Kenlowe are ok but not good enough for the heat in the outback. Seen far too many time cars with kenlowes over heat and then have a viscouse put back on and be fine. Just my bit of advice. Last thing you want is a truck over heating in the middle of no where
