    Will this be the cheapest Defender in Australia?

    Guys as you are aware, Grommet the Ute is on Ebay.... and finishes tonight.

    Landrover Defender 110 Tub Utility. RARE - eBay, Other Cars, Bikes, Boats, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 09-Mar-08 22:30:01 AEDST)

    This could end up being the cheapest Defender sold in recent times.

    I'm starting to think that i might only get $5k for it...

    Ohh well.... let the Ebay gods decide....

    Well it's at $4,550 ATM so in the next ten hours it should crack $5K.

    Good luck - you are brave to plonk it on ebay without a reserve, but I guess you know it will definitely go.

    clarkie,
    the oddest thing about grommit is that the vin says its a truck cab = ute in aust-speak.
    S = EUROPE
    A = UK
    L= BRITISH LAYLAND/LANDROVER
    LD= 09 $110, LATERDEFENDER
    H = 110 &147
    A= TRUCKCAB, SOFT TOP OR HARD TOP (UTILITY BODY)
    (B= 3 DOOR STATION WAGON)
    F=200TDI & 300TDI
    7 = RHD 5SPEED
    M= 1995
    A == SOLIHULL (ASSEMBLY LOCATION)
    940162 = SERIAL NUMBER
    So the suggestion is that it was originally destined to be a truck cab ute and possibly converted to meet an order.
    LAND ROVER;

    Barney, Spot on. This is why i checked it all out 1st and found out that i can convert it and it will still match all the numbers...
    So technically, someone could say it was always a factory Ute....

    Someone.... wont say who, said i'm crazy for no reserve....
    But seeing no one on this forum wanted it, i took the gamble that someone else would.....

    Its funny.... so many people said they would love to get a Hardtop and convert it, but when one comes up already converted no one is interested...

    I've had that numerous times, when people say "if you ever want to sell it let me know..." but when you do they either:
    - don't have the cash...
    - wife won't let them...
    - can't justify it now...
    - etc etc etc

    I can see why you've gone the e-bay route.

    Cheers
    David

    if i had the money, i would love to get hold of it and put an auto in it for the misus, but ithen again if i had that sort of money, i'd make an offer on Marcel's 90. she wants that one, but she'd need a ladder to get in and out

    i think half the problem of it not going up is that the bidding list has been hidden/made private. in most peoples minds this is so the owner/seller can bump the price up to what they are happy with, so most people will only bid in small incriments as opposed to putting in what they would be happy to pay for it
    i'm not saying you are doing that - but that is how it will appear to most.
