Thread: REQUEST: Best 4wd insurance?

I ended up going with AAMI, they will cover anywhere in Australia, regardless of whether on a track or not. Reasonable premium but agreed value on std truck was a little low (they wouldn't go any higher than what I'd paid for it).
When I put the bar, winch, lights, radio, snorkel, etc that bumped it up okay, especially when you quote RRP for accessories

AAMI is trying to pack rape me with my premium. Recently recieved and for the Disco are asking for just over $800 Comp. Value? A paltry $6k. Are they friggin' nuts?

AAMI are odd. I wanted to change the garaged address (20km away) on the Disco. They wanted an EXTRA $1000 for the policy (on a $9K policy) to make it $1900 (daughter driver under 25 with no speeding fines nor accidents)

So I went on line and got a quote on new policy with them at the new address. $800.

I changed to them on my P38A some years back as they were 1/3rd the price of TCIS.

I am with aami.Had a vehcle written off(off road)and they paid the agreed value but took a while to give me the money.I also had a wheel come off the disco last yr they wrote it off and paid promptly although i thought it was a bit low this time.Over all i would recomend them they were good to deal with and kept me informed of what was happening both times.Cheers Brett

I am insured with AAMI and just before Christmas had an offroad incident. Got stuck in a creek crossing trashed ecm etc. Phoned them up and they dealt with my claim very effeciently. I had a hire car through them for 10 days at $10 per day. I have a protected policy with them so I didn't even get a price hike on renewal. The cost of insuring the previous year was cheaper than my first premium with them. I can't grumble with them.

Just got my new green slip with them, a lot cheaper than any of the others I'm pretty impressed. Doesn't seem to be a limit for how much after-market stuff you can add on to the policy either. I've added $5k worth of gear so far and they haven't baulked at all. Premium has only gone up $70

    talk to australian 4wd insurance

seriously i was with nrma & luckily never had to test them, however when i got my defender with a uk scorpion extreme suspension kit in it, nrma said thanks but no thanks, despite us having the house, contents & discovery with them.
i checked aust 4wd insurance and they cover you everywhere( i mean EVERYWHERE!) & they were so much cheaper than the others & they cover absolutely al the accessories you list.
can't say what a claim is like but i just chipped the windscreen & they offered a free glass replacement every 12 months.

One more happy Australian 4WD Insurance customer, they are underwritten by CGU and as Adnic said they cover any mod and any location, not even a problem with 4wd parks like some do, I've just done the ring around today as mine was due on Monday just gone to see if I could better the deal.

They were still the cheapest by up to $150 as well as having the cheapest excess and no problems with the child brides driving experience (less than 10yrs?) they also are very easy to deal with.

I luckily haven't had to test them with a claim yet.

Just had a chat to a group called Vigil, got their number from the insurance ombudsman, I'm impressed!

They insure on agreed value only and take all mods into consideration, sort of like a competitor to Shannons. End result $11k value as a private recreational vehicle = $605 and I can pay quarterly without any penalty. Included are things like windscreen & window replacement, protected rating & choice of repairer etc. I'd never heard of them before and thought I'd share it with you guys.

They're number is 1300 134 054 and they are based in Melbourne.
