    Question REQUEST: Best 4wd insurance?

Who is the best company to insure your vehicle with that will cover incidents on 4wd trails, dirt roads, water crossings etc?

I do know NEVER to touch Allianz ever again after my experience with our last vehicle

    Thanks in advance

HI Treads, there are many threads on here so you should be able to do a search and get more info then I have to offer.

But from talking to a few companies now TCIS insurance sounds like the best for "everywhere" cover.

AAMI say they will insure anywhere as long as your not in competition.

I tried one which I think I just googled ?"Australian four wheel drive insurance" and they looked good but only do over 25 from what I could ascertain so no good for me but maybe fine for you.

I'm with NRMA who don't specifically say they won't cover you for any accidents etc when 'off road' in their policy disclosure statement.

I have emailed a request for clarification last night to see what (if any) the restrictions are. If I get a useful answer in the next coupld of days I'll post it here.

Think I am with that Australian 4wd insurance and they seem pretty good. Say they will cover the car anywhere off road within OZ. also happy with all my mods.

    Cheers

    Hi Treads,

I'm looking for new insurance company too. Last week I've got the quote (via phone) from QBE. Here is some figures:
    - Market: 33793
    - Prem: 602
    - Acc: 350

I have some accessories, such as snorkel, bull/tow bars, 2 batteries etc... in total cost of 4.5K - they count everything. Offroad, you have to be on track (shown on map/GPS). Stuck on beach, sunk... but evidence of attemt to try to recover = covered. Also they happy with any mods (for example, 5" suspension etc.), only let them know. Trial/competition autos not covered.

OK, looks like more places to call, check and get quotes:
    - TCIS
    - Suncorp
    - Australian 4wd

    Thanks, guys

    Cheers,
    Ruslan

Sorry I'm just going to add a quenstion in... It's very naughty I know!

Now, I don't understand insurance well so I'm going to ask for some advice.

I called TCIS and as I'm under 25 and vehicle has a few mods on it they said they can insure but they have to use Allianz. I've heard negative things about this mob. BUT, does it actually affect me who they use because don't I deal with TCIS and not Allianz?

    Thanks for your help.

I've just called suncorp and they are not for me. They offered 9 grand on a fully modded up disco if it was a write off. Said it was top price available.

And They don't actually take accessories in to account when working out premium all they do is make a note which is interesting.

had my 95 disco with them just over 12 months ago with an agreed value of 17k and about a $500 premium

95 defender i have 11k agreed with similar premium which i thought sucked rocks compared to the disco but they have always looked after me well so....

I got a useful reply from the NRMA Insurance bods about off road cover:

On behalf of NRMA Insurance I am able to provide you with the following information in relation to your enquiry about off road driving.

Off-road driving and riding is acceptable for Comprehensive, TPPD & TPFT Insurance. Provided the vehicle is not used in connection with any race, including rally, trial, test or contest.

Off-road driving and riding refers to vehicles being driven on unsealed roads or in areas where there are no roads. For example across a paddock.

For your convenience I have provided a link to our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) available to you online.

    http://www.nrma.com.au/pub/nrma/poli...policy-nsw.pdf

Pages 30 and 31 may be helpful for this enquiry.

I'm keeping a copy of this just in case...
