He did a few quick calculations or some quick research and offered them to me for $175.

As I am the world's worst haggler and I cringe when I even attempt it, I thought that was OK. The difference in price will pay for my fuel up to Cooma and back.

So if you are thinking of Maxxis, it might be worth trying to talk the price down a bit.

I have Nankang Mudstars on my Disco (Maxxis Buckshot copies) at $160ea fitted compared to $280 for Buckshots, why would you, they are the same tyre.

Shopping around is a good idea and can save you hundreds of dollars.

I have Nankang ATs on the V8 and they've surprised me how good they've been, they were cheap and I wanted the hwy tyres gone asap at the time. The TDI has also come with ghey road treads that will have to go very soon (I'd like to say immediately but she won't let me) I'm not stuffing around this time, it's getting muds.

speaking of rubber!! does anyone know a web site you can get an on the spot quot without talking to some ****** about what he thinks you should have on your truck??

I have Nankang Mudstars 33x12.5x15 175 ea. fitted and balanced, had them for over a year now, I have probably done about the same off-road (maybe more) as on road and I'm extremely happy with them and wouldn't hesitate to buy again. There seems to be a trend towards big brand high priced tyres, but I would advise, look around first. When I ran Trucks interstate I used to run Kuhmo and Hankook front steer tyres they were over a hundred dollars cheaper than the big name brands, but I never had a problem and mileage in most cases was much better than the biggies, Regards Frank.

Sounds like a good Idea, for someone else to run, tyre companies would probably pay good money for something like that and offer great deals but the main problem being that the local tyre joint will lose out as half of that information they are giving you is trying to get you to buy what they can make a good mark up on.

When I was in the trade we used to push Hankook but I ran BFG most of the time yet I did run a set of kooks on the triton for a while and they were very good.

Nankang's (and other cheap as brands)are ok for cheap tyres but the QC isnt as high as the more well known companies as they have to cut corners somewhere to make a cheap tyre.

Maxis seem to be making a pretty good name for them selves and getting known more as one of the main streamers along the lines of Yokie's and Kook's etc.

For muddies I'd go for the Nankang no probs but I like my BFG's for the AT's

Please dont pay $280 for Maxxis Buckshots..you can get them in Albury (31*10.5r15) for $170 fitted....or are these the copies you spoke of...they are Maxxis tyres with 'buckshot' on the sidewall. I got the same size Maxxis 'bighorn' muddies for $180 fitted....with the large white print facing IN.

Seems alright for you all running 15 inch rims,

I was quoted $200 for the Nankangs 245/75/16 but bought the Maxxis 762 (bighorn) white side in @ $240 each.

I wanted MTR's but @ $300 each slightly out of my range

I have only heard good on the 762's
