Thread: Anyone own a Mitsubishi 380 ?

I've driven most models of the 380 over the last few years. Some were almost brand new some had 50,000km on them. They were all hire cars and in most cases I had them for between 4 days and 4 weeks.

Very comfortable. Did 900km in one day in a top end model and it wasn't to bad at the end of the day.

Reasonably quiet on the open road, like most new cars. Handles well, though I did get one with dodgy brakes.

Fuel consumption usually is rubbish for a vehicle of this size, on par with the Falcons. I usually find I'm getting at east 12.5L/100km on average and I don't drive like an idiot.

Every single one I've driven has been an auto and every single one's transmission will slip if you have to give it a bit (eg to overtake). Doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen.

Boot space. To small, you can just squeeze 2 cases into the boot. May not be an issue for you. But it is when travelling.

I've never driven a 380, however I'm sure it would be a nice car. However be very very aware that it will depreciate like a rock. You need to make sure you get a **really** good deal otherwise if you have to quit it you'll be going to the cleaners.

What about a golf? You've got some seriously big cars at your place. Do you need another? If you buy a golf diesel or similar at least you'll be able to afford to drive when diesel is $3 a litre next year!

The Captain is on the right track.

VW, Pugs, Audi are all in diesel specs and all are 5 - 8 lt/100ks. I'm sure there are other around too.

Nothing like spending your fuel savings on servicing and repairs

After a trial run in my new job I can tell you that the 380 is a nice car, and Derek is right in everything he said re the 380. On my lot I have two a black VRX and a base model, both look ok and do everything most would need to do but are a little more thristy than they should be.

If you do want to go a 380 you will get a great deal, in fact comming down to vic in the near future by any chance?? Im sure the boss would pay for your fight if you bought one of the 380 in the yard.........

The guy up here said the VRX had been on the floor for a while... but it's black with a black leather interior, and satnav. Cool.

But we both may prefer the XR6 when we have to look at it every day and feel the pride (or otherwise) of ownership.

Huh? A golf diesels are between 27990 - 39790 depending on how much fruit you want. The focus diesel is about 27990, and the mondeo is 37990. According to wheels a XR6 is 37990 - 39990.

So, all my suggestions are cheaper and use 3-5l less fuel per 100 than the xr6. I was just trying to save you some cash!

Maybe when fuel was 40C pl that was the case. Do the math!

It isn't so clear though in passenger cars as fuel efficient petrols aren't that far behind the diesels and often they cost significantly more. I drove to nambour and back Thursday with a little running around at each end and averaged 45MPG or 6.3 l/100. All sitting on the speed limit with the AC on Thats a 1.8l turbo petrol.
