For the cops I say. It's not that hard to find a place to ride that wont annoy everybody, and it's not that hard to get a license for the older ones.
I was working in Rawson over Easter.
I went to the Stockyards bar to get some takeaway cans on Saturday night when I overheard 2 Trail Bike riders discussing the days ride.
They both seemed to have had a great day out, but were cheesed right off that the cops had booked their mates for unlicensed riding, even though the bikes were registered!
Fair go! There are big posters all over the place warning of the penalties for Unlicensed-Unregistered riding, as well as a local radio campaign with frequent reminders of the penalties for the offences. Locals are fair peed of with muppet riders who tear around the town and surrounding bush with modified noisy bikes. I called through Evans Brothers Quarry and Kilns at Coopers Creek on Sunday and there were 3 young blokes on unregistered bikes screaming around the campers in the quarry, until plod turned up and booked them, to the delight of the campers. 3 Young blokes giving 1 copper a gobfull of abuse for ruining their holiday! What about the families that went away for a bit of peace and quiet?
Sorry if it's turning into a rant.......

dickheads on dirtbikes...... what can i say.....
Can't stand selfish morons who think they can do what they want and to hell with everyone else. Do it to them and they'd be the first to complain. Good on plod I reckon!
You are allowed to shoot trail bike riders, aren't you?
URSUSMAJOR
OK I ride trail bikes. but I am licenced and registered. these blokes need a good kicking, there is no issue with dirt bikes themselfs. just these idiot blokes who dont think.
It's not that I have a real deep set against bikes. If they are registered and licensed they are legitimate bush users, just like us 4 wheel drivers.
Try living or working-in my case- on a property that joins onto a State forest.
You can set your watch by the 5 minute laps some of them do around a short loop. They seem to scared to venture out of sight of the town.
Them you get Dad and Uncle who bring the kids up with their mini bikes for the weekend and encourage them to follow them around.
As for shooting them, Happy Jack track runs right behind our Paintball field![]()
I am a life member of a trailbike club and currently own a registered bike as all members of our club must. All members must also be licensed. Our rides mainly consist of leaving the cars in the morning and not returning to the cars until late afternoon after travelling up to 200 kms of trails (try that in a 4wd!).
As far as I am concerned the police and DSE should be more active in enforcing laws and fineing clowns who ruin things for everyone. That includes people in 4wd's that play in the mud until tracks are unpassable by relatively stock vehicles.
Anyway, check out our web site www.amtra.com.au. It is a fairly recent version of the site and not finished but getting there.
